KAFI Hub Cohort 1 Live Session: Meet Samiyu David Mishemaze

The KAFI Hub Cohort 1 journey continues with an inspiring live session that promises to ignite passion, purpose, and practical action among young changemakers across Africa. This week, we spotlight one of our very own Samiyu David Mishemaze, a rising leader shaping the conversation around financial literacy, youth empowerment, and economic inclusion.

The KAFI Hub Experience: Building Africa’s Next Generation of Financially Empowered Leaders

The KAFI Hub is more than a training platform, it is a movement of young people committed to transforming Africa through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
As part of KAFI AFRICA’s flagship leadership and financial literacy fellowship, the Hub brings together promising youths from different backgrounds who share one mission: to drive financial inclusion and sustainability in their schools, communities, and countries.

Through interactive live sessions, mentorship programs, and project-based learning, the Hub equips members with the right mindset, tools, and practical strategies to become financial literacy trainers, community educators, and social innovators. Each cohort features dynamic facilitators, guest speakers, and young achievers whose stories inspire others to take action.

Tomorrow’s live session promises to continue that legacy with a remarkable voice of influence Samiyu David Mishemaze.

👤 Who is Samiyu David Mishemaze?

Samiyu David Mishemaze is a passionate and purpose-driven undergraduate student of Finance at the prestigious University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Beyond his academic pursuit, David has distinguished himself as a committed advocate for financial literacy and youth development.

He currently serves as:

  • Vice President, Finance Students’ Association (FINSA), University of Ilorin Chapter
  • Kwara State Coordinator, KAFI AFRICA
  • Certified Financial Literacy Trainer

At just the undergraduate level, David’s leadership and impact have already extended far beyond the four walls of his institution. His mission is clear: to ensure that every young person understands the value of money, develops smart financial habits, and learns how to build sustainable wealth from an early age.

The Journey to Financial Literacy Advocacy

David’s journey into financial literacy started with a personal realization: many young people, even those studying finance or business-related courses, struggle with practical money management skills.

“Financial education shouldn’t be theoretical,” he often says. “It should empower people to make informed decisions about spending, saving, investing, and giving.”

Motivated by this conviction, David began organizing workshops, peer-education sessions, and campus outreach programs that simplified financial concepts for students. From budgeting to investment basics, he has demystified finance in relatable and engaging ways.

Through these initiatives, David has reached hundreds of students equipping them with the skills to manage their income wisely, avoid debt traps, and develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

Leadership Rooted in Service and Impact

In every role he has held, David’s leadership has been anchored in service. As Vice President of FINSA, he has led initiatives that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

His team has hosted financial literacy bootcamps, partnered with industry experts for seminars, and launched peer mentorship programs that nurture the next generation of finance leaders.

As KAFI AFRICA’s Kwara State Coordinator, David continues to expand his reach. He mobilizes volunteers, collaborates with student associations, and represents the organization at youth development forums. Under his coordination, several local training sessions and awareness campaigns have been organized, bringing KAFI AFRICA’s message closer to students and communities.

🌍 Why Financial Literacy Matters Especially for Young People

For David, financial literacy is not a luxury; it’s a necessity.
He believes that the lack of financial knowledge among young people often leads to poor financial choices, debt burdens, and missed opportunities.

“Financial literacy is not just a skill, it’s a survival tool,” he emphasizes.

This belief aligns perfectly with KAFI AFRICA’s mission to advance financial literacy and inclusion across Africa. By empowering young people with practical financial knowledge, the continent can move closer to achieving economic freedom, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

Championing Youth Development and Inclusion

One of the qualities that make David stand out is his strong passion for youth development. He understands that young people are not just the future they are the present drivers of social and economic change.

Through his work with KAFI AFRICA and FINSA, he encourages young individuals to take charge of their financial lives, build businesses, and develop problem-solving skills that contribute to national growth.

David’s mentorship approach focuses on helping peers find purpose, build confidence, and connect their personal goals to broader societal impact.

“True leadership is about helping others discover their potential and providing the tools they need to thrive,” he says.
