Aunty Sefako and the Loan Shark is a powerful story that explores the complexities of loans, debt, and financial literacy within the context of Togo’s vibrant culture. The story centers on Aunty Sefako, a widow with six children, who finds herself in a financial crisis after the death of her husband. In her desperation to support her family, she turns to a loan shark named Kossi, unknowingly walking into a vicious cycle of debt. Each loan she takes to repay an old debt leads her deeper into despair.
